Course measurement summary - North Lincolnshire Half Marathon
including Distance Marks
Neil Pattison UK Association of Course Measurers

Introduction Tape2Tape are to hold the North Lincolnshire Half marathon on 6th May 2012. With a starting point on Scotter Road, the course is absolutely flat and offers competitors the opportunity to post fast times. A finish in the grounds of Glanford Park, home of Scunthorpe United, provides a good backdrop for athletes and spectators alike.
Course measurement The course has been measured and verified by a member of UK Association of Course measurers as being 13.1 miles in length, taking the shortest possible route available. The course was measured using the calibrated bicycle method used by measurers across the world. It is extremely accurate and athletes are assured that they will be running a genuine half marathon. Whilst GPS devices give a good indication of distance for training purposes, it is commonly felt they provide an accuracy of around 95%. Further details are available at www.tape2tape.co.uk . All times ran on the measured course are valid for use on Power of Ten. www.thepoweroften.info .
The certificate issued allows you to advertise the fact that the course is accurate and for you to put the measurement symbol on your advertising material. Assuming no changes are made to your course, this certificate is valid for a full ten years. Once ten years has elapsed then it is possible to renew on line at www.coursemeasurement.org. If you make any changes to the course, then it will need to be measured again.

Help us to help you by drinking plenty of fluids in the days leading up to the start of the race as well as making use of the water stations along the route.
We will be providing a full range of staff including a doctor, nurse, paramedics , ambulance technicians and first aiders. We will be supplying fully kitted out ambulances, as well as cycle responders and a response vehicle. We are working closely with the event organisers to ensure that all participants have excellent medical provisions at hand, should the need arise.
If you are unsure about any aspects of your medical health, then please consult with your doctor before taking part.

Whilst it is unfortunate that there will be some disruption to some residents, with ample notice it will be possible to make alternative arrangements.
Road traffic solutions, a local Scunthorpe based company have been assigned to professionally manage the closure and diversionary routes on the course. Anyone interested in their business can view it at http://www.roadtrafficsolutions.com/services.php

The North Lincolnshire Olympic Year Half Marathon are delighted to be working in conjunction with Scunthorpe United Football Club to put on this great event. Stadium manager Mr Alan Welsh is pulling out all of the stops to ensure that runners and spectators have a great race day experience.
The football club will be providing stewards who will guide runners to their parking spots and point them in the direction of race HQ where numbers can be collected. On the day the club will be opening one of their refreshment points prior to the race where hot and cold food and drinks will be available. Once the race is underway there will be the opportunity for any spectators to indulge in Hot dogs

You will not have that problem, the club are opening plenty of toilets, which will be well stocked with a lorry load of toilet paper!
The club will also be opening up the OSG bar from 1030 so if anyone fancies a well earned pint after the race! This is where the race presentation will take place.
